I work as a Humanistic therapist, which means I believe in the individuality of each person with whom I work. I believe in understanding and respecting who each of us are and our unique life experiences.
I draw from a range of psychotherapeutic theories and am eclectic and creative in my approach to ensure that therapy is specific to the needs of the individual.
I believe that while our histories continue to impact us in the present, this is not all that we are and I am interested in how we shape and manage ourselves in response to our experience everyday.
Both open-ended and short-term therapy is offered.
Areas of particular interest, include:
Building self-esteem and learning self-care techniques
Managing anxiety and panic
- Conflict and anger management
- Multicultural and identity issues
- Work and career issues
- Managing and creating satisfying relationships with partners, family,
friends and colleagues Managing relationships with others affected by mental illness
My training and experience
I am a graduate of Spectrum Training which is a United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) member organisation. I abide by their code of ethics and practice.
I am committed to continued personal and professional development and supervision with Spectrum.
I completed my Oxford Cambridge & RSA Certificate in Counselling Skills in 2003 and I have been a therapist in the voluntary sector for Richmond Borough MIND.
As a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) I am bound by its ethical framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy.
With a BA (Hons) in Corporate Communication, Post Graduate Diploma and MA in Marketing, I previously worked in UK and International Qualitative Research for over 10 years. The majority of my work involved moderating discussion groups, providing consultancy, and listening to and connecting with a diverse range of individuals.
